Marks & Spencer Lisburn has a real treat lined up for its customers – the store has been completely transformed with a brand new look.

Designed with customers in mind, the makeover has made the store more inviting, inspiring and easier to shop with a new look Foodhall and clothing displays. There is also a brand new dedicated beauty offer, the biggest of its kind in Ireland.

Other features include the first M&S Bank in Ireland, a new rear service Deli counter and a new look in-store Bakery providing a range of speciality breads, pastries and cakes.

What’s more 25 permanent specialist new jobs have been created as a result of introducing the new features as well as nearly 200 fixed term jobs for Christmas.

Ryan Lemon, M&S Lisburn Store Manager said:  “We can’t wait for our customers to come in and see all of the changes we’ve made and try out the new Deli counter and see our fantastic new beauty scheme.  It’s a really exciting concept and we’d love as much feedback as possible from our customers.”

New features at the store include:
Clothing: Each clothing brand is now very clearly segmented, with distinct brand identities that allow customers to see which brand best meets their personal style preferences. This is highlighted for customers through unique branding, visual merchandising kit and propping. For example, Limited Collection has an edgy, fashion-focused feel with a catwalk framed by a metal arch.  An ethnically casual look for Indigo includes trestle tables and denim mannequins, whilst a sports-inspired look for Blue Harbour has authentic wooded sporting equipment and a large canvass sail.

Autograph is luxurious and sophisticated with a black glass table and grey posed mannequins.  Per Una is true to its brand values with a feminine and vibrant look highlighted with white-washed wooden wardrobes and chandeliers.

Foodhall: The store’s new-look Foodhall showcases the quality and freshness of M&S food, better highlighting M&S’ position as a speciality food retailer. Over 500 new M&S products will be available, including 100 international ambient brands that are newly and exclusively available at M&S.

Deli: The new Deli counter will offer 110 new and exclusive M&S lines including carved meats, pasta sauces, raw and cooked meats, cheeses, salads and fish.  Customers can also select from a range of fresh pasta that will be made onsite to order, as well as a selection of poultry from a rotisserie.

Bakery: the new Bakery will offer a range of speciality breads, pastries and cakes, with a selection of bread baked onsite from raw dough.  All bread can be freshly sliced in-store by trained staff.

Beauty: the new Beauty offer sees the repackaging and improvement of M&S own brand products as well as an exclusive edit of some of the leading niche beauty brands from Europe and the USA, handpicked to be included in the department.  All beauty advisers have been specially selected and trained to ensure beauty buying is simple, fuss-free and enjoyable for the customer.

Home: the enhanced Home Store makes it even easier for customers to find inspiration and ideas for their home.  The new in-store technologies include a customer browse and order hub that features a 32” iPad interactive catalogue and a 70” digital display screen to showcase the key design themes.

Windows: new charcoal coloured mannequins, lighting and props give a dramatic look to the store’s windows which include multimedia TV displays showing latest offers, what’s in store and editorial-style catwalk videos and fashion tips.

Bank: the Lisburn branch has been designed to offer customers a convenient and secure banking environment, supported by a dedicated M&S Bank team and Bank Manager.  The branch will offer customers a brand new pager service – meaning they will not have to queue and wait for an advisor to become available but can continue to shop or visit the M&S Café.  The new branches will include free internet and telephone banking facilities.  The existing M&S Bureau de Change has been re-designed to integrate seamlessly with the bank.

Joanna Lumley, who launched Shwopping in April this year, commented: “We’re determined to give every item of clothing a future and help some of the world’s poorest people in the process. So, dig out those old shoes, boots and bags you haven’t worn for years and give them a new lease of life. Get Shwopping!”

Customers can take advantage of the offer by handing in their unwanted boots, shoes and bags at M&S till points where the discount will be redeemed via a unique barcode, only available on relevant purchases made from 11th – 17th October.

This offer comes after last week’s launch of the first ever garment produced from customer items donated via the Shwopping campaign, a stylish limited edition ladies wool coat whose price of £89 is half the cost it would be if made from virgin wool. The coat went on sale in selected M&S stores across the UK and on online, on 10th October.

Shwopping is Marks & Spencer’s revolutionary clothes recycling initiative where customers can donate any item of clothing of, any brand, to be re-used, resold or recycled by charity partner Oxfam. Launched by Plan A ambassador Joanna Lumley, M&S believes Shwopping can revolutionise clothes shopping by asking consumers to adopt a ‘buy one, give one’ mentality and encourage greater sustainability on the high street.

The campaign aims to put an end to the one billion items currently ending up in landfill every year. All M&S clothing stores now accept used and unwanted items of clothing from any brand, all year round. The ultimate aim for M&S is to collect 350 million items a year – recycling as many clothes as it sells.
